Day 1

Arrival to Tbilisi
Pick-up from Tbilisi International Airport. Transfer to hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel. Tbilisi sightseeing tour - the Old and New Towns. The city offers a great variety of sights, most of them very ancient. All the places of interest in the Old Town are very close to each other, within a few minutes' walk. We start our visit to Old Tbilisi from Metekhi Church, then walk up to the brick-domed Sulphur Baths. From the Baths we head up the hill to visit Narikala Fortress - one of the oldest fortifications in the city. Afterwards we continue to the Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral and Anchiskhati Church. This marks the end of the Old Town. After lunch we visit the stunning treasury of the Georgian National Museum, before taking a stroll along Rustaveli Avenue - the main street in Tbilisi. Dinner in the restaurant with folklore show program. Stay overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 3


Tbilisi - Telavi-Sighnaghi - Bodbe - Tbilisi
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Tsinandali - a village noted for the estate and its historic winery which once belonged to the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze. We will go on an excursion in the family museum and have a walk in the park beautifully laid out in an English style with fine views and exotic plants. Afterwards we continue to Signagi - a small beautiful city in Kiziqi (part of Kakheti region), famous as the "City of love". Signaghi is a rare example of a historic city which kept its style during the centuries with open traditional balconies, a unique fortress with churches built in it and towers. The city overlooks the Alazani valley and provides visitors magnificent views of the Great Caucasus Range. After lunch visiting Bodbe Monastery - the final resting place of Saint Nino, "Enlightener of Georgians", who preached Christianity in Georgia with a vine cross in her hand. In the evening we return to Tbilisi. Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in a Tbilisi hotel.

Day 4

Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Gudauri
Breakfast at the hotel. We drive to visit the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia - Mtskheta (3000 years old) and see its historical sites: Jvari church (6th century) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century) where the Robe of Christ is buried. Both Jvari and Svetitskhoveli are UNESCO World Heritage sites. After lunch we visit the ancient ruins of the city and drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway, en route visit Ananuri architectural complex (17th century). The drive is very scenic as it heads up into the Great Caucasus mountains. Hotel accommodation. Overnight in Gudauri ski resort (2200 m.).

Day 5

Gudauri - Kazbegi - Gori
Breakfast at the hotel. A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi - the main town in the region. From Kazbegi a leisurely 2 hours walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus - Mt Kazbegi (5047m). Drive to the town of Gori - the heart of the Kartli region. Gori is the birthplace of the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. In the center of the city there is the house where Stalin was born, his personal railway carriage and the Museum of Stalin. Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in Gori.

Day 6

Gori - Uplistsikhe - Kutaisi
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit Uplistsikhe cave town, which is one of the oldest places of settlement in the Caucasus (3rd Century). Built on the high rocky left bank of the Mtkvari River, it contains different structures and is notable for a unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures from Anatolia and Iran, as well as the co-existence of pagan and Christian architecture. Afterwards we drive to Imereti province in Western Georgia - the famous Land of the Golden Fleece, where Jason and the Argonauts sailed. Visit the pretty town of Kutaisi, the second largest in the country (an ancient town more than 3000 years old). Here we visit the splendid Bagrati Cathedral (11th century, UNESCO World heritage site) and Natural grotto. Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 7


Kutaisi - Mestia
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit Gelati Cathedral - (12th century) - one of the earliest academies in Europe (UNSESCO World Heritage Site) and then continue towards Svaneti - one of the most exciting parts of your trip, the region with the highest mountains and glaciers and the strictest ancient traditions. Arrive in Mestia - center of Upper Svaneti. En-route we visit Lenjeri church painted inside and out. In Mestia we visit a traditional Svanetian house and watchtower. Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in Mestia.

Day 8

Mestia - Ushguli-Mestia
Breakfast at the hotel. A three-hour drive will takes us to the highest permanent village in Europe - Ushguli (2200m). Ushguli and generally the whole of the Upper Svaneti region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village is most famous for its abundance of watchtowers and this is where you will view the highest mountain in Georgia - Mt. Shkhara (5068m). In Ushguli we visit Lamaria Church (12th century) and then walk up the hill to Queen Tamar's Tower. In the evening we return to Mestia. overnight in Mestia.

Day 9

Metsia - Zugdidi - Batumi

Breakfast at the hotel. From the Great Caucasus mountains we descend to a subtropical coastline of palm trees, citrus groves and tea plantations. En-route we visit Enguri hydroelectric station and then Dadiani (Georgian Duke's) Palace in Zugdidi. In the evening we arrive in Batumi. Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in Batumi.

Day 10

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we visit a private ethnographic collection and then the Botanical Gardens. We continue our way to Gonio fortress (1st century AD), connected with the myth of Jason and the Argonauts. Later we visit the ethnographic museum and have free time. Stay overnight in Batumi.

Day 11


Batumi - Bakuriani
Breakfast at the hotel. From Batumi we continue to Meskheti region. Travel through forested hills and Rocky Mountains to Bakuriani ski resort via Borjomi spa town - famous for its mineral water "Borjomi". Hotel accommodation. Stay overnight in Bakuriani.

Day 12


Bakuriani - Khertvisi - Vardzia - Bakuriani
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we travel to Vardzia. A magnificent cave town - Vardzia (12th century) is one of the highlights of the trip. Initially it was planned as a town-fortress, but later on the complex turned into a well defended monastery and important political, cultural, educational and spiritual center of the country. The complex stretches over half a kilometer along the river Mtkvari and has 19 tiers. There used to be about 3000 caves. It's got a church hewn out in rock with amazing 12th century frescos. Vardzia also includes dwelling quarters, small hall-type churches, refectories, wine cellars, pharmacy, etc. On the way to Vardzia we also visit Khertvisi fortress (10th century). Return to Bakuriani and stay overnight.

Day 13


Bakuriani - Borjomi - Akhaltsikhe
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Borjomi. We start our pleasant walk in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, which is one of the biggest parks in Europe (WWF). It covers more than 85.000 hectares of native forest and sub-alpine and alpine meadows, home to rare species of flora and fauna. Visit the mineral water park where you can taste the famous water of Borjomi. Afterwards visit the Summer Palace of the Russian Tsar in Likani. Proceed to Akhaltsikhe. Visit Rabati Castle complex - the Symbol of Tolerance, which was built in the 9thcentury and includes Jakhelis' residence, ruins of oldest market, castle, museum, Mosque, Catholic, Armenian, and Greek churches. Its architectural variety emphasizes influence of many conquerors and old civilizations. Drive to Tbilisi. Stay overnight in Tbilisi.
